FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY?

 

Good advice but does it work? Yes – but the key to this is actually FEEL the fear. Most people won’t. They’ll do everything and anything to create a distraction and avoid actually allowing the feeling of fear to just be there without doing something to stop the feeling.⠀(Hello Netflix or the mindless social media scroll…)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There is power in learning how to BE with our negative emotions. We’ve been taught to manage them, control them, hide them, swallow them and toughen up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But here’s the thing, when we feel them, we can understand their source. We understand the thinking patterns driving the fear and decide if we want to continue to think that way, or if we need to choose our thoughts deliberately to align with what we’re creating.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So. much. power is available to us when we stop buffering our emotions and tune inward instead. You can embrace your emotions in a way that’s a bit  like a surfer riding on top of a wave (vs. getting pulled under by it) and as you do, you’ll no longer fear your feelings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Next time the fear gremlins show up unannounced, instead of locking all the doors and windows and hiding from them, invite them in and pour them a cup of tea. Make them your friends and then get back into action.
